Snow in Savannah??

Yup, that’s right! We had a holly, jolly time in the snow right in downtown Savannah with 70+ temps. We decided to head down to Broughton Street and partake in some of the winter festivities at the Holiday Frolic. It was a wonderful day for it, weather-wise. We were able to enjoy a balmy 70 ish degree day while walking through the historic downtown of Savannah.  Broughton street was blocked off for about two or three blocks and a holiday shopping area was set up in the middle of the street. An “ice skating” rink served as an end-cap near Lincoln street, but we decided paying $7 something to “skate” on white foam mats wasn’t our cup of tea. So we headed up one block to the kids snow area.

Jackpot!

They cordoned off part of the square and filled it with snow from a snow machine. Mostly it was a slushy, ice consistency but it was COLD and fun! The kids (and a few adults) had a blast pelting one another with ice chunks — some the size of small animals — and sliding around the square dodging snowy icy projectiles. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

I hate that we were out of town to miss this. It looks like so much fun!

Cherish that snow…it will likely be the only kind you ever see here! =)
