Things in Savannah are going well and we’re enjoying the warmish weather (been pleasant comparatively). Last Saturday, I took Steph to the Savannah Children’s book festival and we had quite the adventure. It was held at Forsyth Park and it is typically hard to find parking nearby. (*Side Note: for those of you watching RUBY on Style Network, Forsyth park is the beautiful place with the fountain where she walks with her dog most of the time.)
So, we began our morning driving around the nearby streets looking for parking spots (parallel parking, no less) and finally located a decent one about two blocks from the park in a quaint old residential neighborhood. Stephanie got to feed coins to the meter after I maneuvered my car into the spot. Then we held hands as we walked along the mossy oak lined streets that led to Forsyth Park. We had a great time meeting local children’s authors and getting to see the creator of the Arthur book series. We made arts and crafts and gathered freebies from the vendors. Then we strolled through the park and headed home before the rain poured down!
All in all the morning was a very nice one and one of Steph’s favorites so far in Savannah. The day after Thanksgiving we are planning on taking her downtown to the Savannah Holiday Frolic. There is supposed to be outdoor ice skating on Broughton Street and a snow area as well, and I, for one, would like to see how they are going to pull that off in 50 degree weather ;o)
We’re also going to try to take in the other events during the weekend — the Savannah Harbor boat Parade of Lights down the river and
